A key step in the development of the automotive industry in Egypt was achieved when, in May 2004, Bavarian Auto opened its new factory in 6th of October City, Cairo. The new factory for CKD (completely knocked down) assembly is one of the most modern car plants in the entire region – and sets a new standard for the industry.
The plant is housed within a stylish contemporary building and fitted with the highest specification technical equipment procured, tested and approved by BMW.
The plant is built on a total area of 39,000m² and comprises 120 stations with an annual production capacity of 8,000 units of different models and brands. The body shop applies the latest welding technology, whilst the paint shop, not only meets rigorous BMW specifications but also fulfils the latest environmental requirements.
Currently, the facility enables Bavarian Auto the opportunity to offer a full range of models, including the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series
, X3 and X1 which, when combined with a new range of imported cars (including the BMW 1 Series, 6 Series, X5; and various MINI models), will ensure that BMW’s Egyptian customers can chose their car from the best selection in the world. Following the recent agreement between Bavarian Auto and Brilliance Auto, the Brilliance Galena 2.0L, Mahindra Scoprio are also now assembled in the factory and plans for assembling additional Brilliance models are already well in process.
Environment and Safety
This new management system has led to implementation of better communications system and improvement of work conditions for employees, leading to reduction and eventual elimination of work-related hazards causing accidents and illness. This in turn is leading to reduction of operational costs, thereby ensuring that Bavarian Auto customers enjoy the highest quality cars, built by an efficient team of mechanical engineers and technicians.
